Short Bio:
Burn the ladder is a folk musician bearing a sharp tongue and a big heart. She combines the rich story-telling tradition of folk music with the wit and sensibilities of a protest singer in a bitter-sweet catalog of hope, sorrow, joy and fury.
Additional Bio:
Burn the Ladder is a queer solo artist based in South Wales. Originally from London, she chose Wales for the mountains, the trees, and the wonderful creative people carpeting the landscape. Her music emphasises open and direct lyrics; whether she is talking about painful personal moments or her opposition to right-wing politicians, there is very little space between the artist, the art, and the audience.
Latest Project:
Burn the Ladder returns to her folk-punk roots in her latest album "Angry, Tired!". These songs capture the fury and exhaustion of living in a society that seems intent on destroying itself (and her along with it); she sings of TERFs and fascist bootlickers while offering an elegant solution to the question "what should we do with Thatchers grave?".
“A fantastic storyteller and that’s really where she thrives.”
— Jamie Funk, Divide and Conquer Music
“These are songs that are part of an ancient tradition that involves good and bad spirits, terrible and hopeful omens, and the idea that art and creativity are meant to change the world and the people in it.”
